For those unfamiliar with Tents and Tires we wanted to give you a quick rundown of what you can expect from the event. We wanted to create a fun weekend full of activities and good times at an affordable price. The weekend will have several activities available to our attendees included with admission. This is a tentative rundown of events and is subject to change. This event will be held in Watkinsville, Ga near Athens.
What’s Included?
Included with your $50 admission you will get entrance for your vehicle with up to (4) occupants. In addition you will receive (5) raffle tickets per vehicle (additional tickets can be purchased at $2/each), a site for weekend camping, access to our classes, vendors, giveaways, competitions, and organized trail ride.
Classes
We currently are organizing classes and will have them 100% finalized 30 days before the campout, we have confirmed (2) Building a First Aid Kit Classes (1 Saturday AM, 1 Saturday PM) taught by Chris Harper from Skills 2 Survive. We are also hosting (1) recovery class taught by Steven Lash from Sawtooth Bound, a Trail Repair Class taught by Eric Gagnon from Classic City Overland, an off grid coffee making class taught by The Java Can, Solar Class and a talk / Q and A on International Expedition with Staples Intents on Saturday Night.
Competitions
There are also a few competitions we have planned for the event our big one is the Camp Stove Cook Off sponsored by Tembo Tusk. We will be awarding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd awards, with the grand prize being a complete Skottle Kit from Tembo Tusk. Local shop Oconee Off-Road will be bringing out a Flex Ramp and hosting the #FlexFriday competition Friday night and awarding a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes!
Vendors / Giveaways
Not only will we be having sponsors for the event, but there will be vendors on site with inventory and gear for sale. Along with our sponsors, our vendors have donated gear to give away to our attendees at our Sunday gear raffle. You will have an opportunity to win some awesome gear from some of your favorite companies.
Trail Rides
To keep the weekend excited we want to include a trail riding aspect to Tents and Tires. This will work 2 ways. First, our attendees will receive an map that we have plotted that you can ride into the event, out of the event or at any time during the event. On Saturday morning, we will have an early morning guided trail ride 3-4 hours starting at around 8:00 AM (Subject to change). This ride will be led by Eric from Classic City Overland, will be broken up into groups of 10-12 vehicles.
Free Solo
In the spirit of the great outdoors Friday night we will be having a showing of the movie Free Solo in the Terrapin outdoor classroom!
Tickets
As stated above tickets are $50 per vehicle with up to 4 occupants, and can be purchased HERE. As this is a rain or shine event, we will not cancelled due to weather and tickets are non refundable. For further questions you can email us at ExpeditionGeorgia@Gmail.com
