About a year ago, we caught Porsche race car driver, Leh Keen’s personal Safari 911 in the wild and have been enamored with it ever since. It’s impressive on so many levels as it is unique, capable and most importantly – a lot of fun! And before you dare to judge these German rally cars, as configured, they’re certainly just as qualified to hit the trails as (or probably more than) most of the mall crawlers prowling our Georgia streets. Ever seen a leveled, blingy Wrangler on 35s do this?
We didn’t think so.
Need any more convincing? Well here you go:
There are plenty of websites that have covered the process of how these amazing vehicles are created from start to finish (FlatSixes, Petrolicious and our friends at Expedition Portal, in particular), so we won’t delve too deep into that. However, what’s interesting to us is that these Safari Porsches are all built entirely in Georgia. Goldcrest Motorsports of Kennessaw, GA tackles the majority of the mechanical work and Classic Livery of Atlanta (of Roswell) lays down the immaculate finishes. From there, the final touches are wrapped up in-house at Leh’s personal shop.
This past weekend, the delivery of the seventh rendition of Keen’s Safari 911s was delivered in a famous Porsche hue, Fashion Grey – and it looks delightful.
How awesome would it be to see Maple X behind a Safari 911 in the future?!
